When the Practice Becomes Yours

There’s a quiet magic that happens when we stop following instructions.

Not because we’re rebellious.

Not because we’ve mastered anything.

But because, finally, we’re ready to listen — not to a voice outside of us, but to the one within.

In the first episode of Café Méditatif, I speak about what it means to begin a personal practice — not as a student who needs more guidance, but as a soul who’s finally ready to try on her own. And in many ways, that’s where the real meditation begins.

But this isn’t a show note.

This is a love letter to that very moment.

The Art of Letting Go of the Script

We begin most things in life by following others — their wisdom, their path, their pace. And that’s a beautiful beginning. But at some point, there comes a hush. A pull. A slight discomfort with the tempo that’s been set for us. It’s not rebellion; it’s evolution.

Just like art — which, at first, we learn to “understand” through books and history and tours. But over time, we realise the most powerful connection to art isn’t in knowing its backstory. It’s in what it does to us.

What it stirs.

What it silences.

What it softens.

And in that space… something begins to form.

A practice that isn’t taught, but felt.

You Are Allowed to Do This Your Way

Your meditation does not have to be guided.

Your yoga does not have to be perfect.

Your journaling does not have to follow prompts.

Your spirituality does not have to be shared to be sacred.

And your path back to yourself — it doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s.

Sometimes, we cling to structure because we think it will save us from falling. But what if falling — gently, safely, lovingly — is the very thing that roots us deeper into our own experience?

This episode was born from that reflection. A soft exploration of how we can move from being guided… to being self-led. Not out of pride, but from a longing to meet ourselves fully, without the filter of someone else’s voice.

The Power of Ritual Without Rules

In the episode, I offer you a letter. Not a guided meditation in the traditional sense — no breath counts, no visualisation cues. Just a quiet, written presence. One that can be returned to on your terms, at your pace, again and again. Like a favourite bench in a park. Like a green chair in a Parisian museum.

That is the soul of a personal practice: it doesn’t ask you to do more. It asks you to return.

Return to the moment.

Return to yourself.

Return to your own wisdom.

A Soft Invitation

If you’ve been feeling disconnected from your practice…

If you’ve been longing for something slower, simpler, more soulful…

If you’ve been wondering if you’re “doing it right” or “missing something”...

Let this be your reminder: your practice is waiting for you. Not the polished version of you. Not the “disciplined” or “consistent” one. Just you — with your tea gone cold, your messy thoughts, your hopeful heart.

This isn’t a podcast to learn something new.

It’s a café visit, wrapped in ritual and words, made for remembering something you already knew.

And if you’d like to receive a meditative letter each month — one you can hold, fold, and keep — you can learn more here.
